Data Deletion Instructions

BiteSafe does not store any data on remote servers. All your data is stored locally on your device. There is no server-side data to delete.
What Data Does BiteSafe Store?
The following data is stored only on your device in a local SQLite database:
- Scan history (barcodes you've scanned and their scores)
- Favorite products
- Cached product data from Open Food Facts
- Family member profiles and dietary preferences
- Grocery list items
- App settings (theme, language, onboarding status)
How to Delete Your Data
Option 1: Clear App Data (keep the app installed)
- Open your device's Settings
- Go to Apps (or "Apps & Notifications")
- Find and tap BiteSafe
- Tap Storage & Cache
- Tap Clear Storage (or "Clear Data")
This deletes all local data including scan history, favorites, preferences, and cached products. The app will behave as if freshly installed.
Option 2: Uninstall the App
- Long-press the BiteSafe icon on your home screen
- Tap Uninstall
Uninstalling the app automatically removes all local data from your device.
Third-Party Data
- Firebase Analytics — collects anonymous usage statistics. This data is not personally identifiable and is automatically deleted after 14 months per Google's retention policy.
- Google AdMob — ad-related data is managed by Google. You can control ad personalization in your Google Account settings.
- RevenueCat — if you purchased a subscription, purchase records are managed by Google Play. You can manage subscriptions in the Google Play Store.
